Jason Cress (he/him) is an interdisciplinary sound artist. His compositions and soundworks have been performed across the U.S. and internationally, including at City University of Hong Kong and the soundSCAPE New Music Festival in Pavia, Italy. Jason’s work wanders through environmental sound shaping, liminality, musical residue, and participatory, open-access art. By creating easily replicable instruments, sound sculptures, and performative objects, he seeks to integrate music, nature, and community through adaptive, temporary, and spontaneous points of interaction. His most recent project includes developing instruments that safely biodegrade in the environment.
Jason received his Ph.D. in music composition from UC Berkeley and his M.M. in composition from the University of Kansas.
